Burnley 2 Everton 1: Last-minute Arfield strike earns the points

Scott Arfield scored a last-minute winner as Burnley snatched an unlikely 2-1 Premier League victory over Everton at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Ronald Koeman s side were the better side for much of this encounter, but came away from east Lancashire with nothing after the Canada international fired home first time from the edge of the box after Johann Berg Gudmundsson s effort had come back off the bar.

It was a bitter pill for Everton to swallow, after the visitors had deservedly cancelled out Sam Vokes first-half opener through Yannick Bolasie s first goal for the club just prior to the hour.

Vokes tapped home his third goal of the season after visiting goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg last week s hero after saving two penalties in a 1-1 draw at Manchester Ci…

Wenger, Guti – who could replace Zidane at Real Madrid?

Zinedine Zidane left Real Madrid fans, players and even the president dumbfounded when he confirmed he would be leaving the club as head coach.

The former France star has won nine trophies in less than three seasons in charge, including an unprecedented three Champions Leagues in a row, the latest secured just five days ago against Liverpool in Kiev.

Florentino Perez said on Thursday he would have preferred Zidane to be by his side forever and expressed his hope the 45-year-old will return to the club in the future.

For now, though, Perez is once again tasked with finding a replacement head coach. Here are just five of the biggest names who could take over at the Santiago Bernabeu, and their chances of doing so in the coming weeks

Serie A leaders Inter Milan survive dramatic ending to beat Verona

Inter Milan extended their lead at the top of Serie A to five points after Davide Frattesi sealed a dramatic late 2-1 win over Verona at the San Siro.

Inter looked set to have to settle for a draw after an early strike from Lautaro Martinez was cancelled out by Thomas Henry in the 74th minute.

But in a wild finish, Frattesi netted in the third minute of added time with a goal Verona claimed should have been disallowed for an earlier foul by Alessandro Bastoni.

Verona’s Darko Lazovic was sent off for protesting to the referee, but there was still time for the visitors to win a penalty in the 10th minute of added time, which Henry duly fired against a post.

In an equally action-packed clash at Frosinone, Monza ended a run of three games without a win as t…

Rooney hoping Ronaldo suffers World Cup heartbreak

England striker Wayne Rooney has said he hopes former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo misses out on World Cup qualification with Portugal.

One of the abiding memories of the 2006 World Cup in Germany was Ronaldo, now playing for Real Madrid, winking as Rooney was red-carded for kicking out at Portuguese defender Ricardo Carvalho in the quarter-finals.

England went on to lose the game on penalties and Rooney and Ronaldo rediscovered their friendship back at Manchester United, but that did not stop the former wishing not to see Portugal in South Africa next year.

It would be nice to see Portugal not there because they have knocked us out of the last two tournaments, said Rooney.

Obviously when we didn t qualify for Euro 2008, we got a lot of stick. You have …

Liga del Futbol Profesional Boliviano Review: Bolivar win title

Bolivar claimed the Liga del Futbol Profesional Boliviano Apertura title after winning 3-0 against Blooming in the final round on Sunday.

The Apertura campaign went down to the 22nd and final match following results last week that saw league-leading Bolivar and rivals Oriente Petrolero both emerge victorious.

Just a solitary point separated the two teams but Bolivar s 3-0 victory at the Estadio Ramon Aguilera Costas in Santa Cruz was sufficient as Oriente lost 2-1 to The Strongest on the same day.

Bolivar (46 points, plus 29 goal difference) finished the campaign four points clear of Oriente (42, plus 15).

Juanmi Callejon, Juan Arce and Jose Capdevila were on target away from home to give Bolivar their first title since taking out the 2012-13 Clausura cha…

Mexico confirm Vucetich appointment

Mexico have appointed Victor Manuel Vucetich as their new head coach as they aim to salvage their fading FIFA World Cup qualification hopes.

Vucetich takes charge with Mexico in fifth position in the final round of CONCACAF qualification for the finals in Brazil next year.

After topping their group in the third phase, winning all six games, Mexico have endured a dismal last round thus far, winning only once and finding the net on just four occasions.

Friday s disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Honduras spelled the end of Jose Manuel de la Torre s reign, with Luis Fernando Tena taking temporary charge for the 2-0 loss to United States on Tuesday.

Vucetich possesses a wealth of experience, having managed at an array of clubs in Mexico, but parted company with Monte…

Byram set for Forest switch

Talksport understands that Nottingham Forest are on the verge of signing Sam Byram on a season-long loan from West Ham United.

The Championship outfit have been busy in the transfer market this close season already agreeing deals for former England international Michael Dawson and Portuguese trio Diogo Goncalves, Joao Carvalho and Gil Dias.

They are now set to add Byram to their squad for the forthcoming season with the full-back deemed surplus to requirements by new Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini.

The twenty-four-year-old moved to West Ham from Leeds United in January 2016 and has since racked up thirty-six appearances in all competitions but only five of those came in the Premier League last season and just two of those were starts.

Prior to his …

Khazri set for Saint-Etienne

According to L Equipe, Sunderland midfielder Wahbi Khazri s time at the club could finally be coming to an end with reports linking him to French side . The 27-year-old has spent the last few weeks in Russia as the talisman of the Tunisian national team, but unfortunately, he ll be coming home early following their final group stage game against Panama tonight.

Khazri has been with the Black Cats since 2016, although he enjoyed a successful season on loan with Rennes last year. With Sunderland now playing in the third tier of English football it always seemed as if Khazri was on borrowed time with the club, and one way or another, it felt like he was always going to be leaving.

Khazri has already agreed to the deal in principle, and now, the negotiations will reach the …

LFP pleads for urgent government support as French football faces financial crisis

The body in charge of France s football leagues has called for urgent government support to help the sport survive its financial crisis.

The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) on Tuesday called for a meeting with authorities to establish an emergency support plan to safeguard the future of professional French clubs.

It said collective losses of more than €1billion meant the survival of the professional football industry is at stake .

The stark warning came in the wake of the collapse of the television channel Telefoot Chaine, which broadcast for the final time last week.

Mediapro, which operated the channel, had struck a lucrative five-year deal with the LFP for Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 broadcast rights, but that agreement was cancelled in December aft…

They must be f***ing better! – Berbatov demands more from Manchester United

Manchester United s players must be f***ing better if they are to put last season s forgettable campaign behind them, according to their former striker Dimitar Berbatov.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer s men won only one of their final seven Premier League matches in 2018-19 to finish down in sixth place.

That terrible run started with a 2-1 loss to Wolves at Molineux in April, having also suffered a 2-0 defeat at the same ground in the FA Cup quarter-finals the previous month.

However, United started the new season in a positive manner with a 4-0 win against Chelsea last weekend and Berbatov hopes lessons have been learned ahead of Monday s return to Molineux.

Plenty of smiles as we prepare for Monday s game
