Onana open to new Ajax contract amid Inter Milan interest

Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana says he s open to the possibility of signing a new contract with the Dutch club.

The 25-year-old came through the youth ranks at Barcelona and made switch to Ajax in 2015. Since then, he s gone on to represent the club in 204 competitive matches, keeping a clean sheet on 83 occasions.

Onana was linked in the past with returning to Barcelona, as well as with the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

The speculation about his future subsided significantly after he was handed a 12-month doping ban, which was later reduced to nine months. Speaking to Dutch outlet Telegraaf, he said he was close to joining OGC Nice during the summer transfer window, but no deal between the clubs was reached.

Kroos hopeful of teaming up with Mbappe: The best players have to be at Real Madrid

Toni Kroos is hopeful Real Madrid will finally land Kylian Mbappe next year after a failed attempt to sign the Paris Saint-Germain in the most recent transfer window.

Madrid are reported to have had three bids turned down for the France international in July and August, the last one said to be worth up to €200million.

However, Mbappe is due to become a free agent at the end of the season and can therefore secure a pre-contract agreement with Madrid – or any other foreign club – from the start of January.

Kroos has previously talked up the prospect of his side bringing in Mbappe and remains eager to link up with the 22-year-old in 2022.

In the summer, I already said that I would like a player like him to come, but if he doesn t, we have a good team,…

Tottenham 4-1 Crystal Palace: Bale and Kane at the double as Spurs move into top six

Gareth Bale continued his recent goalscoring run with a brace matched by Harry Kane in Tottenham s 4-1 Premier League win at home to Crystal Palace.

Loan star Bale had netted just four times in his first 16 games back at Spurs, but his double on Sunday took his tally to six across his subsequent six appearances.

Kane assisted both goals, either side of a Christian Benteke header that only briefly pegged Jose Mourinho s men back, before the England captain added a sensational third and then the fourth for a double of his own.

Son Heung-min laid on the striker s second for the pair s 14th goal combination of the campaign, a new Premier League record, as a third straight victory took Tottenham into the top six.

Bayer Leverkusen battle back from two goals down to maintain long unbeaten run

Substitute Patrick Schick glanced home an injury-time equaliser to preserve Bayer Leverkusen’s remarkable unbeaten record and hand his side control of their Europa League last-16 tie against FC Qarabag.

The Bundesliga leaders looked like giving up their run of 34 matches unbeaten in all competitions when they went in 2-0 down at half-time in Baku, Juninho setting up the first and scoring the second with a silky piece of skill.

But Alonso, who had made eight changes to his starting XI, turned to his bench for inspiration and was rewarded as Florian Wirtz scored a delicate chip and Schick nodded in from close range in added-time.

Harry Kane ‘extremely grateful’ to London after receiving Freedom of the City

Tottenham and England forward Harry Kane reflected on a “special” day after he officially received the Freedom of the City of London on Thursday in a ceremony alongside his family at Guildhall.

One of the City of London’s ancient traditions, the Freedom is believed to have begun in 1237 and enabled recipients to carry out their trade.

England captain and record scorer Kane was awarded the Freedom of the City of London in November for his outstanding sporting achievements but was only now able to receive his certificate in a ceremony alongside wife Kate, his three children and other members of his family.

Many congratulations to team captain and striker and top goalscorer who was awarded the Freedom of the City of London at Guildhall today, in recognition…

Finlay Robertson relishing playing for Tony Docherty after extending Dundee stay

Finlay Robertson looks forward to working under Tony Docherty after signing a new two-year deal at Dundee.

The 20-year-old midfielder came through the ranks at the Tayside club and made his debut at 16 against St Mirren on the last day of the 2018-19 season.

Robertson had a loan spell at Cove Rangers before returning to Dundee in January 2022, and he was part of last season’s Championship-winning squad under Gary Bowyer, who departed at the end of the season to be replaced by Docherty.

He told the club’s official website: “I am really happy to be extending my contract at the club for another two seasons.

“It’s a big season for everyone involved and I am really excited at the prospect of playing in the Premiership.

“I am really looking …

Stoke City 1-3 Tottenham: Kane on target as Spurs reach last four

A thunderous strike from Ben Davies and Harry Kane s 16th goal of the season sealed Tottenham s place in the EFL Cup semi-final as Stoke City were consigned to a 3-1 home defeat.

Spurs dominated the first half and Gareth Bale put them ahead with a glancing header on a miserable Wednesday evening.

Bale was withdrawn at the break, leading to concerns he may have sustained another injury, and Jordan Thompson equalised with Stoke s first shot of the tie eight minutes into the second half.

Spurs were not to be denied a place in the last four, though, as Davies thumped in from distance before Kane sealed a first win in four games as Tottenham moved to within two victories of lifting their first trophy since 2008.

What the papers say

Manchester United are reportedly looking to sell England international Harry Maguire after he only started in 16 games for the club last season. The Red Devils have placed a £50million price tag for his signature, the Manchester Evening News reports. Maguire joined the club in 2019 for £80million.

The Daily Mail says Manchester United will reportedly complete their £43million deal with Inter Milan to sign goalkeeper Andre Onana from the Italian club.

Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse could be set for a move to West Ham, who want to sign the England midfielder for around £20million. However, the Saints value the 28-year-old at £40million, according to the Daily Mail.

Atletico Madrid midfielder Llorente extends contract until 2027

Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente has signed a new deal to keep him with the reigning LaLiga champions until 2027.

The versatile midfielder s contract was previously due to expire in 2024, but Atletico confirmed on Wednesday that he has signed a three-year extension.

The standout memory of Llorente may be his Champions League brace against defending champions Liverpool in March 2020, but he has been an integral part of Diego Simeone s machine since joining from neighbours Real Madrid for a reported €40million fee in 2019.

Indeed, his 12 goals and 11 assists were vital in securing Atletico s first LaLiga title since 2013-14 last term, and only their third since 1996.

Only Jose Luis Morales (13) scored more goals than the 26-year-old during that …

Conte: Spurs need ´big investment´ to compete with Liverpool

Antonio Conte says Tottenham must spend a lot of money to compete with Premier League title contenders Liverpool ahead of facing the Reds at Anfield.

Spurs are locked in a battle with rivals Arsenal for a top-four finish and travel to Merseyside to face Jurgen Klopp s quadruple-chasing outfit on Saturday.

Tottenham will meet a Liverpool team unbeaten in 21 Premier League home games, while the Reds have not tasted defeat in their past 15 league games overall.

Klopp also saw his team secure the third Champions League final appearance of his seven-year reign with a 3-2 away win over Villarreal on Tuesday.

Looking back on the success Klopp has achieved since arriving at Anfield in 2015, Conte said Spurs require a big investment to compete for major honours …
